Wyoming e-bike law

The 2019 Wyoming Senate Bill SF0081 regulates electric bicycles by defining three classes based on their motor power and speed capabilities. Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are allowed on bicycle or multi-use paths unless prohibited by local authorities, while Class 3 e-bikes are restricted from such paths unless adjacent to a highway or allowed by local jurisdictions. Electric bicycles are not considered motor vehicles and are exempt from registration, licensing, and driver's license requirements. A permanent label must be affixed to each e-bike, indicating its class, motor wattage, and maximum assisted speed. The bill also prohibits modifying the bike to change its motor-powered speed or engagement unless the label is updated. Class 3 e-bike operators must be at least 16 years old, and minors must wear a helmet when riding or riding as a passenger.
