Mountain bike trail recommendations
Red Grade trails
Skill Level: Varies (Beginner to Advanced)
Distance: Over 17 miles
Highlights: Located on state, BLM, and Bighorn National Forest land, this trail system offers a variety of loops and terrains. It's a year-round, non-motorized trail system suitable for all skill levels.
Directions: From Sheridan, take hwy 335 to the town of big horn. follow 335 till you hit gravel. there are two trailheads shortly after you hit gravel. our favorite trail is let em’ roll!
Tongue River canyon trail
Skill Level: Moderate to advanced
Distance: Varies
Highlights: This trail offers scenic views of the canyon and river. It's a multi-use trail popular among hikers and horses, so please be respectful. expect rocky-enduro type sections. best way is to shuttle from skull ridge to the canyon.
Directions: Start by leaving a retrieval vehicle at the Tongue River Canyon Campground or further down the canyon towards Dayton. Next, drive your shuttle vehicle up Highway 14 from Dayton, go onto 14a at Burgess Junction, and turn right on Road 15 to cross the N. Fork of the Tongue River. After a while, turn right onto Road 168 which feeds into Freeze Out Cow Camp Road (199). Keep straight to take Freeze Out Point Road (202) up to the overlook and the start of the ride.
Hidden hoot loop
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Distance: Approximately 2 miles
Highlights: Part of the Soldier Ridge Trail System, this loop offers a mix of climbs and descents, making it a favorite among local riders.
Directions: From sheridan, travel west on 5th street to black tooth park. park at the park (near the playground) and follow the signs till you hit hidden hoot. Please note, this trail does have seasonal closures. they will be posted at the trailhead.
Soldier Ridge Trail
Skill Level: Easy to Moderate
Distance: Approximately 4 miles
Highlights: This trail offers panoramic views of the Bighorn Mountains and is suitable for beginners and families. It's a non-motorized trail system maintained by the Sheridan Community Land Trust.
Directions: From Sheridan travel west on 5th St, a five minute drive from downtown Sheridan. When the road becomes gravel, take the 2nd left and cross a cattle guard. Turn right into the trailhead parking area. Please note this trail does have seasonal closures. It will be posted on at the trailhead.
Sheridan Bike paths
Skill Level: Easy
Distance: Approximately 20 miles
Highlights: Sheridan pathways offers a variety of views of beautiful sheridan, wyoming. The pathways take you through historic downtown, next to wild buffalo and elk at kendrick park, scenic river valleys, overlooks, and more. There are some fun single-track mountain bike directly adjacent to the pathways. great for beginners. Check out north park!
Directions: The pathways can be done in any direction. We recommend starting at either malcolm wallop park or south park. Make sure to hit kendrick park and downtown sheridan.

Distance: Approximately 3 miles
Highlights: Located within the Red Grade Trails, this trail features technical sections and is recommended for experienced riders seeking a challenge.
Directions: From Sheridan, take hwy 335 to the town of big horn. follow 335 till you hit gravel. Take the steep red grade road to the bear gulch trailhead. we recommend shuttling from poverty flats to bear gulch for multiple runs!
